Carol Binns-Wood was born and grew up in Montreal, where she studied fine arts at John Abbott College, before moving to Toronto to take the fine arts program at York University. She also studied at Arts’ Sake, an alternative art school in Toronto. Carol continued to participate in group and solo exhibitions but her bread and butter income was from hand painted clothing that she sold at craft shows and retail outlets. She moved to Flesherton in 1989 and opened her own retail craft shop, Local Colour where she has continued to sell her own work and that of 40 other artists. She now makes hand forged metal items as well as her own paintings, drawings, sculptures and  mixed media works. The most recent creations are handmade books, aprons, purses, napkin rings and bangles.
